"We need Drogba to come back to the performances he had last year and the goal against Tottenham was very good for his attitude, I understand he has not been in a good condition. He had difficulty to play with malaria, he was tired, he was not 100% and he found it difficult to train.
Now his condition is better. He had a good reaction after coming on as a substitute in the last game, this is the important thing and following the goal against Tottenham he will show us a different Drogba in the next game."
“Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce that Gael Kakuta has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract.”
I have heard of Pep Guardiola, to be frank."But you don't have to ask me – the coach is always the last to know. Don't ask me. We focus on our training and our matches."
'It’s not a good moment and is very frustrating,' admitted Drogba. 'It’s not nice to see United up front and Arsenal are with us as well but it’s a challenge for us and we have to see it that way, rather than being disappointed.
'We have to do everything to come back and we are playing those teams in a few weeks so this is a challenge.‘Once again we created a lot of chances and we could have scored maybe another goal but the problem is we conceded a goal very early so we had to chase the game.‘When you have to chase, you create more space and you create more fatigue as well - so it is difficult to take the chances when they come.
'It was handball,’ he conceded. ‘I was just disappointed because two minutes before I tried to cross and the defender touched it with his hand and the referee didn’t give it.
'He said the player was too close but my handball was close also - but it was the decision and there was nothing you can do about it.'People expect Chelsea to win every game and they may be surprised when we don’t, but that means we are one of the best teams in the league. That is why the expectation is high so it is a responsibility we have to take and we try to do that.’
